Monica Alcazar-Duarte


Originally from Mexico, Monica lives and works in the U.K. Her background is Filmmaking, Scenography and Photography.
In 2020 she was nominated for a National Geographic Fellowship and obtained the Firecracker Grant. In 2019 she obtained the Lucie Foundation-Chroma Luxe Fine Art Photography Award. In 2018 she was selected as one of ten artists for Les Rencontres d’Arles New Discovery Award and in 2017 she obtained The Photographers’ Gallery Bar-Tur Photobook Award. She is currently a nominator and has been a mentor for the World Press Photo’s Joop Swart Masterclass. Currently part of Screen Arts an education project founded by Elizabeth King and Fred Ritchin. Monica is also part of jury panels for awards in 2021.
