Photo ka Kura

November 16, 2025 - November 21, 2025 | 11:00 am - 3:00 pm

Yellow House, Sanepa

‘फोटोका कुरा’ is a peer-learning photography program organized by photography enthusiasts from Mirmire Kala Kshetra who are passionate about the medium and have recently begun exploring it more deeply. It is designed for participants to learn collaboratively, share their practices, and explore photography through hands-on experience with no professional-led instruction. Over six days, participants engage with history, contemporary practices and photobooks.

Participants also take part in sequencing, printing, and bookbinding to create an experimental photo zine. This publication includes images that each participant brings to the table—photographs from the past (physical or digital copies found in family albums, frames, or kept somewhere at home), alongside contemporary. The final zine will be printed on Lokta paper, a traditional Nepalese handmade paper, reconnecting participants with the tactile, sensory qualities of printed photographs while honoring a local craft. By bringing these two timelines together, the participants aim to reveal and reconnect with the long-lost practice of printing images and how our ways of seeing have shifted over time. Through this process, participants explore the relationship between past and present practices, and rediscover the tangible, sensory experience of holding and looking at printed images in Digital age especially in Lokta paper.

The program is an experiment to develop new photography learning methods in Nepal, encouraging self-discovery, experimentation, and dialogue. It is a platform by Gen-Z photographers for Gen-Z photographers, fostering an environment where participants can question, create, and learn together, reflecting both individual perspectives and collective ideas.
