An Upending: The Call Heard Around the World

AC Zine Club

November 30, 2025 | 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

Community Reading Room, Nepal Art Council

WORKSHOP DETAILS

Date: Sunday, November 30th, 2025
Time: 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Facilitators: Gisela Maria, ndegwa nguru, Putri Permata Sari
Participants: Maximum 20 people

Join us for a collaborative zine-making workshop that listens to the echoes of protest — from Tanzania to Kenya, Nepal to Mozambique, and beyond. Together, we’ll reflect on the waves of youth-led movements challenging power and reimagining futures. Through words, images, and collage, participants will create collective zines that capture resistance, hope, and the shared pulse of a generation refusing silence.

The session will include:

– Reflections on two lessons from Tending the Soil, a zine on political organizing by artist Ricardo Levins Morales

– An interactive conversation led by Ndegwa, Gisela, and Pipop (maximum 1 hour)

– Hands-on zine-making in response to the conversations and themes explored

*This workshop is open to participants above 16 years old.

ABOUT AC ZINE CLUB

AC Zine Club is a series of zine-making sessions focused on organizing towards a better world. The club meets simultaneously in four physical locations as well as online. Through engagement with Tending the Soil by Ricardo Levins Morales, we reflect on eight lessons for organizing and translate them to the socio-political contexts in which we live. Through zine-making and digital and physical gathering, we create space for deep consideration of the struggles we face, the tactics and strategies we can build on, connections across geographies, and the role of art in organizing.
