Abdul Halik Azeez (b. 1985) trained as a journalist, economist and linguist whilst migrating to becoming an artist since 2015. Drawing from the post-war landscape of Sri Lanka, his work reflects on technologies of power as mediated through contemporary culture, narratives of progress, lived experiences and media. He has presented solo exhibitions at the Saskia Fernando Gallery Colombo. Recent group shows include Pop South Asia: Sharjah Art Foundation (2022); The Lumbung of Publishers: documenta fifteen (2022); Serendipity Arts Festival, Goa (2022); Colomboscope, Sri Lanka (2022); and Growing Like A Tree: Ishara Foundation, Dubai (2021). He has received grants from The Sharjah Art Foundation and Pro Helvetia New Delhi for solo and collaborative projects. Halik co-founded and works regularly with The Packet, a collective of emerging artists based in Sri Lanka.
