Paola Farran is an artist, curator, and cultural practitioner currently based in Jordan. Her socially-engaged practice often responds to specific geographies, rooted in questions of ecology, sustainability, and belonging. Through photography, painting, sculpture, and material experimentation with clay, fabric, and found objects, she explores the role power systems play on the environment as well as on society. She also considers how these forces shape both personal and collective identity.

Paola is the co-founder of the Remote Closeness collective and currently serves as the director of mmag foundation, a contemporary art foundation in Amman. Within these roles, she researches alternate approaches and strives to contribute in building a sustainable cultural ecosystem that is responsive to the social, political and cultural context. She is also committed to exploring models of institutional practice that are more equitable, within local realities.
