Chemi Dorje (born June 18, 1986) is a Tibetan-Nepali photographer covering stories primarily of Tibetans living in Nepal. His work specifically focuses on identity and migration. He is an alumnus of Pathshala South Asian Media Institute, Dhaka, Bangladesh and also, attended International Storytelling Program in China by Oslo Metropolitan University.
His work “Exodus” about desertification in Gansu, China has been published in Kathmandu Post and was exhibited in Zoom Photo Festival, Montreal, Canada. In 2020, he was awarded a travel grant from Prince Claus Fund to attend the New York Times Portfolio Review.
His ongoing personal project of archiving Tibetan stories “Transient” was exhibited in Luxembourg by Les Amis du Tibet in 2022.
His commercial work under majime.studio entails documentary style wedding photography covering multi cultural and multi racial weddings. Other work includes Nepal-made product shoots, interiors and architecture.
He is also a passionate basketball player and has received college tuition scholarships and has represented in state level games.
