Worlds Through Minds is bringing its workshop series to Kathmandu for the first time. We invite photographers, curators, organizers, and creative practitioners to apply for these hands-on workshops led by internationally recognized curator Macy Castañeda Lee. 

About the Workshops

Workshop 1 : Community Events & Portrait Session
Working with Galleries & Third Spaces + Free 35mm B&W Film Portrait Session with Ilford Film
Date: December 2, 2025
Time: 2:00 – 5:00 pm

Learn to organize grassroots photography initiatives and curate community-based gallery shows that decentralize Western-dominated photography spaces. This workshop covers event planning, finding collaborators, identifying ideal exhibition spaces, and sourcing photographers for themed shows. The second half includes a practical outdoor portrait session where you’ll receive free 35mm B&W Ilford film and learn light metering techniques and post-production editing.

Workshop 2: How to Curate Photography Gallery Shows
Sequencing Different Photographers’ Work with Various Themes (Print Outs Included)
Date: December 3, 2025
Time: 2:00 – 5:00 pm

Dive deep into the art of curating multi-artist photography exhibitions. Discover the unique challenges of sequencing diverse photographers’ work cohesively and develop your eye for visual selection. Work hands-on with prints from Worlds Through Minds’ global photographer network and create your own curatorial sequences to share with fellow participants.

Workshop details
  • Both workshops will be conducted in English
  • Workshops are in-person only
  • Limited to Max. 15 participants only per workshop to ensure intimate, hands-on learning.
  • Participants should bring their own camera (film or digital) for Workshop 1
  • All materials and prints will be provided
  • You can choose to apply to one or both workshops.
  • Both the workshops are suitable for but not limited to Photographers (emerging and established), curators and gallery organizers, community organizers and cultural workers, artists working with photography, and anyone interested in grassroots gallery initiatives and photography curation.
  • No prior experience required
About Macy Castañeda Lee & Worlds Through Minds 

Worlds Through Minds is a global community of contemporary artists and photographers based in New York, working with creatives worldwide through open calls focused on psychology and culture. Our work explores intricate human emotion, consciousness, temporality, and reality. We’ve hosted workshops in NYC, Berlin, Tokyo, and Manila, and have presented 9 gallery exhibitions since our debut show in the Bay Area, California. IG – @worldsthroughminds

Macy Castañeda Lee (they/them) is a non-binary Filipino photographer, curator, organizer, and public speaker raised throughout Southeast Asia. Speaking five languages, Macy advocates for psychology, mental health, social justice, and education through their work. They founded the Philippine-based non-profit Talang Dalisay and its project organization Bayan Kinaadman, and serve as head curator and organizer of the people-funded Worlds Through Minds.
