Sustaining Art Ecosystems That Resist and Nurture – Part 3
Diwas Raja Kc in conversation Andrea Thal
Wednesday, Nov 19th
3:00 – 4:00, Yalamaya Kendra
Andrea Thal will share her work at Contemporary Image Collective (CIC) in Cairo and also speak about “The Light of Distant Stars“, a research project about the history of African Liberation movements and solidarity networks in Cairo in the 1950s and 1960s.
This conversation series examines how art ecosystems have been built and sustained in Cairo, Siem Reap, Amman, New York, and Singapore. It explores what it means to redefine success for artists beyond prestigious recognition, maintain non-neutral positions amid oppressive systems, and navigate institutional transitions—asking what longevity means when adaptation, accountability, and care are survival strategies.
