Malik Irtiza, an independent artist and researcher based in Srinagar, Kashmir. With a background in Visual Arts and History, my practice traverses across various media such as installation, video, sound, text, and sculpture. My practice explores how image and time operate within conflict, tracing the entanglements of occupation, memory, and resistance. I use the moving image as both document and inquiry; to reimagine ways of witnessing and to question the authority of the visual in representing lived histories.

My works have been shown at the Experimenta International Festival of Moving Image Art (Adolfas Mekas Award, 2024), Kochi-Muziris Biennale (Student’s Biennale National Award, 2023), ASIA Now Paris, and the Bangkok Experimental Film Festival. I have been an Artist Fellow at Immerse 3.0, a Research Fellow at The After School, CAD+SR, and a UNIDEE–Inlaks Resident at Cittadellarte, Italy. Recent recognition includes the Prince Claus Seed Fund (2025). My ongoing work examines how visual and sonic practices can reclaim temporality and narrate resistance from Kashmir.
