Inwards and Outwards
About the Workshop
This workshop invites photographers to turn inward before moving outward—beginning with ‘a deep slow look’ at their own photographic archives to understand the patterns, rhythms, and intuitions that shape their practice.
Over the course of the workshop, participants will delve into their existing work to identify recurring visual themes, subjects, and compositional approaches that define their way of seeing. By mapping these patterns, photographers will gain clarity about their creative language and the pace at which they naturally make images—whether instinctive and prolific, or slow and contemplative.
What happens when you carry this archive into unfamiliar territory? Participants will photograph in Kathmandu using their past images as guides for creating new work. This process creates a dialogue between past and present, challenging photographers to either deepen their established visual vocabulary or deliberately break from it.
