Sujata Khadka
Exhibiting Artist
Godawari, Lalitpur
Sujata Khadka is a visual artist from Lalitpur, Nepal whose work is shaped by her surroundings. At the heart of her practice are questions around what it means to be a woman in today's world and how we can protect our connection to the land while navigating ideas of progress.
Sujata is always searching for the best ways to share her ideas and likes to experiment with different materials and techniques. Her interest in embroidery began with her mother who worked in a garment factory before Sujata’s birth and who would often crochet socks and sweaters for their family. Sujata continues her mother’s legacy through stitching and embroidery, turning them into her own language of storytelling that carries both tenderness and critique.
Through her art, Sujata hopes to create a space for dialogue, reflection, and change. She completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art from Kathmandu University in 2021.
